Following Up

It’s important in business and in business networking, to deliver what you promise. That’s one of the most important and lucrative reputations a business owner can build for themselves. Someone who has proven over and over again that they will do what they say they will do is very valuable. It’s someone you can trust and rely on.
Persistence is another characteristic of a successful business owner and networker. After all, you can’t really fail until you stop trying.
Along the same lines as reliability and persistence is diligence. Diligence is following up with your contacts to ensure they get their desired result. Or to get them to follow through with something they promised.
In business, you’d never give a project to your assistant and then just assume it got done (or at least I hope not). You’d follow up to verify. The same should go for the rest of your contacts as well, follow up to ensure that the introduction you made resulted in a connection, or that the email you sent was received.
Your contacts, clients, associates and friends will see you as someone who takes care of and responsibility for those in their zone. And this is easily the most valuable marketing there is.
Happy Networking!
