Small talk can be a low-pressure ice breaker. It’s also a great way for people to learn about and get to know each other. Rather than jumping right into your spiel or you sales pitch, start off light with the weather, sports or the event you’re attending. Questions are great to get the other person talking, you could ask if they attend these events often or how networking has been beneficial to them. Small talk is a subtle way of getting the conversation ball rolling. Use it to your advantage, get the other person talking. From there you can learn about them and learn from them.
Happy Networking!
